Healing Frequencies of Sound
What is Sound Healing?
Sound healing is the practice of using vibration and frequency to bring the body, mind, and soul back into balance. For thousands of years, cultures across the world have used sound — through drums, gongs, singing bowls, and chanting — as a tool for healing and transformation.
In a sound healing session, instruments such as crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, chimes, gongs, or the voice are used to create soothing vibrations. These sounds don’t just relax you on the surface – they reach deep into your nervous system, helping you release tension and drop into a state of calm and restoration.
Who is Sound Healing for?
Sound healing is for anyone who wants to…
- Reduce stress, anxiety or overwhelm
- Find deep rest and relaxation
- Release emotional blockages or heavy feelings
- Improve sleep and mental clarity
- Feel more grounded, balanced and connected
- Explore meditation in a gentle, accessible way
You don’t need any prior experience – just an open heart and the willingness to lie back, listen and receive.
What happens in a Sound Healing session?
- You’ll lie down comfortably, with blankets and cushions if you wish.
- I’ll guide you with the soothing tones of Tibetan bowls, chimes, drums, handpan and other instruments.
- The sounds will gently wash over you, creating a “sound bath” – a cocoon of vibration that helps your body and mind let go.
Many people describe the experience as floating, traveling or melting into stillness. Some see colors, some feel vibrations in their body, others simply drop into the deepest relaxation they’ve ever felt.

My approach
For me, sound is more than music – it is medicine. During my own healing journey, sound gave me access to stillness when my mind was restless and my heart was heavy.
In my sessions, I weave sound with intention, creating a safe and nurturing space where you can rest, release and reconnect. Every journey is unique – no two sessions are ever the same.
The Science of Sound Healing
Sound is not just something we hear – it’s vibration. Every cell in your body resonates with frequency. When exposed to harmonious sound, your body naturally begins to “tune” itself back into balance.
Brainwaves
Slow, steady tones encourage your brain to shift into alpha or theta states – the same states linked with deep meditation, creativity and healing sleep.
Nervous System
Sound vibrations help calm the stress response, lowering heart rate and blood pressure while activating the parasympathetic (“rest & digest”) system.
Cellular effects
Research shows that sound waves can influence matter at a cellular level. A simple example is cymatics — when sound is played into sand or water, visible geometric patterns form. In a similar way, sound vibrations can bring harmony and coherence to the body’s cells and tissues.
Emotions & trauma release
Sound bypasses the rational mind and speaks directly to the body and subconscious, often allowing stuck emotions to surface and gently release.
So while sound healing may feel deeply spiritual, it is also rooted in real, physical science.
Sound brings stillness.
Stillness awakens balance.
Balance creates healing.
“Joy`s soundhealing sent me to another place. A very peaceful, quiet and although unknown, familiar place. I was in a deep rest, I think I might have dozed off but then the sound of the drum brought me back again. I felt deeply rested and almost re-set after the session. I am eager to join more sessions! Highly recommend.”
